It must be the single piece underwear that causes him to be stupid and nasty and arrogant all at the same time.

Fifth, what do you expect from a guy whose seminal late 1950s early 1960s musical experience was Lawrence Welk! Not sure I would trust him (even if I could trust him) to analyze my last month's electric bill.

You're right to emphasize (as others have and I didn't) the whole Republican denial of reality. But the person Romney claims to be (and thinks he is) would have avoided sharing in all that self-deception. I do think there's an element here of a coward's inability to admit that he might have erred.Daniel Shavirohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14710628584922961682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9208928.post-27401987896169111102012-11-09T15:01:13.724-05:002012-11-09T15:01:13.724-05:00I don't know that Romney is "not smart&qu...I don't know that Romney is "not smart" but he certainly made plenty of less-than-stellar decisions during the campaign (no points for stating the absolutely obvious). I think the chief problem involved surrounding himself with (other) non-rational thinkers (his advisors and pollsters and most of the GOP spinsters, whether or not you include Fox News as a part of his campaign) in the usual group-think bubble in which extraneous facts contrary to your hopes and aspirations simply do not enter. It was curious to observe how, after the first debate, Obama and his campaign instantly recognized and acknowledged their failings and went into overdrive to set the ship back on course. Any time Romney or Ryan made a misstep, the spin was absolute denial and assertions of having made the correct statements/taken the correct actions (see, for example, "doubling down" in the immediate aftermath of Benghazi). One party, while imperfect, seems to live in the real world, the other in a world of its own invention. What is truly baffling is how the Republican spin machine has already gone back to finding external sources to blame for the loss (the entitled "give me stuff" electorate, including the victim du jour, single women).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9208928.post-55047646696550652022012-11-09T13:53:39.103-05:002012-11-09T13:53:39.103-05:00Yes, that's true, but that's an easier job...Yes, that's true, but that's an easier job (and he was hemmed in by a Democratic legislature).
